16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
Simply put guard your conversation. Unkindness, harsh speech, lying, greed, anger and ignorance are profane. Using language that is crude, offensive, insulting, or irreverent. Quarreling about words. Foolish, ignorant controversies. Babbling... GOSSIP! If the convo does not edify you, the one you are speaking to or about, if it's not helpful to anyone. Why are we talking about it? If we can't contribute to the cause in a positive way, why are we discussing another persons situation. Are you speaking of a solution to the problem or fanning the flame?
Instead pray for them. Intercede on their behalf. Or as the scripture says don't say anything at all.
Beware of vain babblings, you will find yourself farther away from God and doing more ungodly things. You don't have to try it and see. Why? Because the word does not lie. And if you have found yourself in a place of distance from Christ, not having a Christ like attitude or doing ungodly things this could be the culprit. You're wondering how did I get here?
