The Lord is my Shepherd- he is responsible for my safety & well being. He watches over me keeping an eye out for any thing detrimental to my well being, things harmful or no good for me. He makes sure I'm safe.
I shall not want- I shall lack nothing. My needs will not go unmet. Luke 12: 22-24, 12:32 Fear not little flock for it is your fathers good pleasure to give the kingdom unto you. Psalms 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield. No good thing will be withheld from them that walk up rightly . The key word is "walk up rightly" We must first be in the will of God.
He maketh me- to lie down in green pastures. creates, constructs, produce, cause, bring about, leads to. He creates an atmosphere, constructs allows and or forms situations, that cause me to lie down. He ask me to? He Maketh! The shepherd doesn't ask the flock which way they should go. He leads them. Proverbs 3:6 In all the ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path. Without proper guidance you will veer from the path.
